    Mara River Hippo Camp

    Transfer from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel to Wilson Airport for the 10am flight to Mara North. After lunch and time to relax, meet your horses for a gentle evening ride of about two hours.

    Mara River and a game drive

    Begin with an early morning ride, crossing the Mara River for the first time, then return for a light breakfast. A game drive, lunch, siesta, afternoon ride and optional sundowner or short night game drive follow.

    Across the Mara to the escarpment

    Leave after breakfast at about 9am, ride south towards a famous wildebeest crossing, cross the river and continue across the Mara Triangle. Meet the car for a picnic lunch at around 12:30, then ascend the Soit Olololol Escarpment at about 4pm.

    Olare Orok Camp

    Descend the escarpment after breakfast at about 9am, ride across to the wildebeest crossing and continue west into the Olare Orok Valley. Stop for a picnic lunch and siesta between 12:30 and 3:30pm, with time for an evening game drive and sundowners.

    Explore Olare Orok

    Spend a full day exploring the area on horseback, by car and possibly on foot, with opportunities to get close to buffalo, elephant, lion and possibly cheetah or leopard.

    06

    The longest ride

    Break camp at 7am for the trip’s longest ride, covering nearly 50 kilometres. Stop for a picnic breakfast, continue with long canters, then break for lunch and a siesta after reaching the Ol Kinyei Conservancy before continuing to the final camp.

    Oloiburmut and the Maasai village

    Set off for an early morning ride, return for breakfast, then take a game drive and walk up Oloiburmut. After lunch and a siesta, drive or ride to visit the local Maasai village at around 4pm.

    Departure day

    Pack and enjoy a full English breakfast before a game drive to the airstrip and a flight back to Nairobi at approximately 11am, arriving around midday.

    Built for riders who are ready for the real thing.

    This is a serious riding experience in a wild environment. Please make sure the following describes you before applying.

    Experienced and fitAged 14+ and comfortable riding for 4–7 hours daily.
    Strong, independent seatConfident at walk, trot, canter and gallop in English saddles — including a secure two-point position in canter.
    Ready for fast, open countryAble to gallop out of trouble calmly and keep up with the group at all times.
    Prepared to travel responsiblyTravel and medical insurance covering adventure activities, including horse riding, is required. Strict 95 kg limit applies.

    This is for experienced riders aged 14+ who are fit to ride for 4–7 hours daily, comfortable at all paces in English saddles, and able to stay calm and effective in fast, open country.
